Who are the Litter Grabbers? A growing group of volunteer residents committed to keeping their neighborhoods or unassigned roads free of litter.
In addition to the major routes that are covered by our partner service organizations, Litter Grabber Volunteers clean Balboa Drive, Callela Road, and Ponce de Leon Drive.
Please click below to volunteer, and the KHSVB Project Coordinator will contact you to provide details for an upcoming cleanup event. Gloves, trash bags, and a safety vest will be furnished free of charge. Please provide your own litter grabber tool (aka "Gopher"). Those tools may be purchased at Walmart or Amazon. Also, bring your own insect repellent and bottled water. Full-length pants or jeans are protective and recommended. For your safety, walk facing the traffic throughout the cleanup. Inform the Project Coordinator, Cindi Erickson by email at ce56385@gmail.com if you encounter debris that is too large for you to carry or to safely retrieve.
No filled bags are to be left on the road. Many volunteers take their filled bags home to place with their household trash. If preferred, POA Sanitation has designated the following dumpsters that may be used for bags collected during cleanup events:
West Side - Parking lot at the outdoor pool on DeSoto Blvd.
Central - Parking lot at Coronado Community Center, past the tennis courts.
East Side - Entrance to Balboa Beach, just off Ponce.
After each clean-up, you will receive an email requesting how much time you spent, and how many bags of litter you collected. This information is passed on to Keep Arkansas Beautiful who, in turn, provides our supplies.
All new litter grabbers who want to be assigned a route will be given a tee shirt!
